Create this super simple fish extender for your next Disney cruise!

Are you familiar with fish extenders? They are an important part of any Disney cruise. In case you are new to Disney cruises, I will fill you in on the details.

On a Disney cruise, there are fish hooks located outside of each cabin door. These hooks are used as a location to hold messages, papers, etc. However, many people use them as a place to hang their fish extender!

When you make reservations to go on a Disney cruise, hop on over to Facebook and do a quick search for fish extender groups. Once you find a group, request permission to join. You will then become a part of a Facebook community of people going on Disney cruises. You can locate your specific cruise and ask to join a fish extender group.

Once you sign up, you are usually assigned a group of ten or so rooms. During your cruise, you will exchange gifts with the other rooms. In order to participate, you have to hang up some sort of bag outside your room.

You can hang one bag or something that is divided and has a pocket for each person in your room. Each day, the other participants will fill your fish extender with treats! The surprises can range from candy to little toys…the possibilities are endless!

Does the thought of creating a hanging fish extender seem like a daunting task? I decided to put one together. I kept it really simple. I went on Amazon and purchased an (affiliate) over-the-door hanging organizer. This organizer came with metal hooks. However, I just looped ribbon through the holes to create a hanger for the fish hook.

Now, when it comes to fish extenders, a lot of people go all out! It is really up to you. To complete my family’s fish extender, I used (affiliate) peel and stick chalkboard labels and a chalk marker. By doing so, I could remove them when I returned home and use the organizer for another purpose.

The next time you schedule your Disney cruise, add to the fun by participating in a fish extender group!
