I’m so excited to introduce my family’s elf on the shelf. Now that my daughter is three, we purchased the book and doll set, The Elf on the Shelf, read the book and started hiding it. I was hoping to give her a cute, holiday name like Holly. However, instead, my daughter insisted on naming her Gorack. To me, that name is more fitting for some kind of lizard sci fi creature than for the cute elf. I was unsuccessful in getting her to give the elf another name. So, Gorack it is. Every morning I get to wake up and help her search for Gorack. We’ve been having a lot of fun.
We read the book the night before we put the elf out for the first time. To help her understand the concept, we hid the elf posing with the book. She understood immediately. This will definitely be our new family tradition.
