It is Spring Break here. As a result, I have to find ways to keep my preschool aged daughter entertained. I’m always looking for inexpensive activities that we can do at home.

Recently, I saw a Play Doh cupcake creation set at the store. I challenged myself to come up with a way to create the Play Doh cupcakes myself. This is part one of the play dough cupcake components. I will post the additional steps this week. Not only is this play dough super easy to make, it smells really great!

Chocolate Mint Glitter Play Dough Recipe

1&1/2 cups flour + extra for kneading
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 Tbsp. canola oil
1/4 cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
1 tsp. glitter
1 cup boiling water

-Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl except for the water.
-Boil one cup of water in the microwave in a microwave safe dish (it usually takes mine about 1 minute).
-Add the boiling water to the bowl of ingredients. Stir.
-Flour a work surface and your hands. Knead the dough until firm (just like you would bread dough). –If the dough still feels sticky, add more flour until it reaches a smooth consistency.
-Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
