If you are related to any science fiction, anime and/or comic fans, Comicpalooza, the Texas International Comic Con, is the perfect destination for Houston family fun. I’m so thrilled to receive complimentary tickets to Comicpalooza.
Comicpalooza will be held from May 24-26, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Three floors of the convention center will be filled with exhibits, special events and programs. You also have the opportunity to meet your favorite celebrity. Featured guests include Patrick Stewart (X-Men and Star Trek: The Next Generation), Glenn Morshower (24 and X-Men) and many more. Visit here for the full list of celebrities.
I am going to Comicpalooza for several reasons. First, my husband will watch just about anything with the word “star” in it like STAR Wars, STAR Trek and BattleSTAR Gallactica (you get the picture). Second, my daughter loves super heroes. I often have to attach a pretend cape (in our case a small towel) to the back of her shirt so that she can pretend to be a superhero. Finally, I think the event will be a lot of fun. I’ve checked out the schedule and it looks like there will be plenty of activities to entertain my family.
I think the Star Trek exhibit will be the most fun. If you have Star Trek fans in your family, they will enjoy the Star Trek: The Next Generation Enterprise-D Bridge Set Restoration and Sci-Fi Museum.I don’t know anyone who hasn’t seen at least one episode of Star Trek.
When I was younger, I watched the original Star Trek series. I also liked the Star Trek: The Next Generation feature films. As I said earlier, my husband likes every Star Trek series. I know we will both enjoy this exhibit.
Comicpalooza will also have activities for younger fans (ages 5-12) and their parents. The younger guests are known as C-Pals. The special activities include arts and crafts, comic making, a magic show and a costume contest. One activity that caught my attention involves the Anime Military Association. C-Pals will have an opportunity to make cards for military personnel to thank them for their service. We will definitely participate in this activity.
