Our Elf on the Shelf made an appearance wearing a pirate’s eye patch (cut out of the sticky part of a post it note and colored with a black marker) and an aluminum foil pirate’s sword. The elf was inside my decorative bird cage. Not only was she in costume, she also brought chocolate gold treasure coins. There was a note that said, “For you tomorrow, if you are good today.” As a result, my daughter was on her best behavior all day. The next morning, my daughter woke up and found the cage door open, which allowed her to get the coins. We are having way too much fun with The Elf on the Shelf!
