Peep Pretzel Treats

ByJessica Wellington 6 Comments March 2, 2015

Peep Pretzel Treats are adorable chocolate covered pretzels topped with Peeps! Once assembled, they look like Peeps sitting on tree branches.

My family loves Peeps. We look forward to their appearance every holiday season.

My daughter likes to play with Peeps almost as much as she likes to eat them. So, I created this fun kitchen activity that allowed her to play with Peeps while making a delicious treat.

This recipe is so simple. Your kids will easily be able to help you assemble these Peep pretzel treats.

You only need four major components: Peeps, pretzel rods, chocolate and sprinkles.

At the end of this kitchen project, you will have an adorable treat that your kids will love to eat!

Peep Pretzel Treats

Ingredients:

  • Pretzel rods
  • Wilton Cocoa Candy Melts
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Flower sprinkles
  • Wax paper or drying rack
  • Peeps

Instructions:

Put the candy melts in a bowl and heat in the microwave. Stop to stir every 30 seconds until the melts are completely smooth.

Dip most of the pretzel rod into the melted chocolate. Leave enough space to provide a clean pretzel section for handling.

Place the chocolate covered pretzel on wax paper or a drying rack.

Cover the chocolate covered pretzel with chocolate sprinkles.

Cover with the flower sprinkles.

Hollow out the bottom of each peep.

Adhere the Peep to the wet chocolate.

Allow the treat to dry until the chocolate is fully hardened. You can speed up this process by using the refrigerator.

I encourage you to let your kids help you put these together. They will have a blast making these fun Peep pretzel treats.

While this activity is a lot of fun, trust me, you will love eating the end result! There is nothing better than a chocolate covered pretzel topped with a Peep.

I hope I’ve inspired you to have fun in the kitchen with your kids by making this Easter Peep treat!
