Don’t get me wrong, I love takeout pizza. It is so easy to pick up the phone and order one of my family’s favorite meals.

However, when I have time, I really enjoy making homemade pizza with my daughter. I especially love to make homemade pizza with stuffed crust because it is amazing!

Who knew string cheese could turn an ordinary homemade pizza into something extraordinary?

This recipe is really simple. You need to plan ahead about 1-2 hours to let the dough have time to double in size.

Homemade Pizza With Stuffed Crust Recipe

This recipe makes two pizzas.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of yeast
  • 1&1/2 cups warm water
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • Pizza sauce (see this recipe for homemade sauce or use your favorite jar of sauce)
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Black olives (halved)
  • 7-10 string cheeses

Instructions:

Combine the yeast and warm water. Stir until combined. Let the yeast proof for 5 minutes.

In a mixer, add the flour, salt, honey and olive oil to the the yeast mixture. Mix until incorporated and a dough forms.

Knead the dough in your mixer with a dough hook or on a floured surface for 5 minutes.

Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours.

Once the dough has doubled in size, preheat the oven to 425.

Lightly oil (with olive oil) a baking sheet and your hands.

Take half of the dough and press it into a circle shape.

Insert a string cheese at the edge of the dough leaving a 1/2 inch gap. Use the gap to cover the string cheese.

Continue inserting string cheeses until you’ve created a complete stuffed crust.
