Homemade Christmas Gift Craft For Kids

ByJessica Wellington Leave a Comment November 11, 2013

Each Christmas, it is a struggle to find the ideal gift for each relative. I spend hours searching online and in stores. Regardless of what gifts I purchase, my relatives are always happiest with photos of my daughter or anything that she creates for them.

Since my daughter loves to paint and our relatives love receiving her homemade gifts, I decided to put the two together for the ultimate homemade Christmas gift craft.

Here is the front of the artwork.

Here are the instructions for how we completed this project.

Tools:
Acrylic paint
Brushes
Canvases
Paper plate (or something to hold paint)

Instructions:
Cover a table with plastic
Set out the canvases and paint brushes
Allow your child to choose paint colors
Place blobs of paint on each plate
Let the kids create their artwork
Help each child paint his/her own name on the artwork
When everyone is done painting, have each child stick one hand in the leftover paint on the plate
Stand the canvas upright and have each child make a handprint on the back of his/her own artwork
Allow the paint to dry thoroughly (usually overnight)

This is a great project. Not only does each relative receive a unique, handmade gift, your kids will have a blast making custom artwork. I cannot wait to see her great-grandmother’s face when she opens her custom gift.
