I received Off & Away to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What would you do if your dad got a case of Barnacle tongue and couldn’t deliver the mail to those who live in the middle of the sea? Like any good child, imaginative little Jo faces her fears and sets out to deliver the bottles for him!
Up until now, Jo has been afraid to join her dad on the sea and even more terrified to go alone. However, when duty calls, she musters the courage to set sail!
On her journey, she faces a wide-range of seemingly creepy creatures! As Jo faces her fears, she soon learns that things aren’t always quite as spooky as they seem.
As she delivers the bottles to penguins and pirates, she makes new friends along the way. However, she must soon face the daunting Blackwater Bay, a place so creepy, her father hasn’t even ventured into its murky waters.
As she travels through the bay, she loses her last bottle and meets a giant creature! With a damaged ship, she has to deal with the unknown in the darkness of Blackwater Bay. How will she get out of this seemingly dangerous situation?
When she returns home, she has her own terrific stories to share with her father!
Written and illustrated by Cale Atkinson, Off & Away is an adorable book that is perfect for summer reading! The illustrations are so imaginative that your child will be transported to the ocean to sail alongside the main character.
