The Number One Keepsake You Should Buy At Disney World

ByJessica Wellington Leave a Comment March 14, 2018

I’m sure you have a favorite Walt Disney World souvenir. Check out this post to find out about my new favorite park takeaway!

(Disclosure: I was invited to attend the 2018 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I paid a conference fee and received discounted and/or complimentary items/experiences during my trip. I was not asked to share my experiences. I’m writing about them on my own.)

Whether you are a new visitor or a season passholder, you should experience pin trading! This exciting activity takes place in the Disney Parks, on a Disney Cruise or online. However, in our opinion, it is the most fun at a Disney Park!

If you’ve been into a Disney store, you may have noticed the kiosks full of pins. They come in all shapes and sizes and feature a wide variety of themes and characters. There are even mystery packs! You have to purchase and open the box to find out what is inside!

In the past, I’ve visited Disneyland Paris (back when it was known as Euro Disney) and Disney World. However, it was during my last visit to Disney World, during the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, that my family and I decided to enter into the pin trading world. I have to admit, it added a ton of new fun to our family experience!

I already have a few pins at home. However, we didn’t decide to start the pin experience until we checked into the Coronado Springs. Since this Disney Resort is under construction, we found these adorable pins in our room!

So, we decided it was the perfect time to start collecting Disney pins. My daughter couldn’t wait to start building her own collection.

Storing Disney Pins

There are a few ways to carry your pins. Some people prefer to carry them in a protective case. My daughter, however, decided to wear them on her conference lanyard. You can also purchase lanyards in the stores at the park.

If you are collecting pins with a child, I recommend purchasing the locking backs. These special backs help ensure that the pins stay on the lanyard. You can find them in pretty much any Disney store in the park.

We first decided to purchase a 2018 pin. From now on, we will add a pin featuring the year of our Disney visit.

If you are just starting out, I also recommend buying the multipacks of pins. By doing so, you can add several pins to your collection at one time.

During our first Disney Cruise, we were thrilled to find themed pins on the ship! We even purchased a mystery bag and were very happy with the results.

Pin Trading

There are so many ways to trade pins. You can trade with other guests as you walk around the park. It is a really great way to meet other families from all over the world. You can even trade with Disney cast members. Whenever initiating a pin exchange, I think it is important to ask the person whether or not they are interested in making a trade. On our Disney cruise, they even held a special event that allowed you to trade pins with the crew.

So, the next time you go on a Disney trip, get involved in pin trading! Not only do pins make great souvenirs, you can pass them on to future generations! Thanks to the Disney store, you can start your collection at home! Visit shopDisney for more information.
