Adventures in Potty Training

ByJessica Wellington 2 Comments November 29, 2011

My daughter is showing all of the signs of being ready to potty train. However, she is not able to verbally tell me she has to go to the bathroom. Eager to work around this roadblock, I went to Lowe’s and purchased a wireless doorbell. We played the various chimes and let her pick her favorite. She likes it so much that when she pushes the button she dances to the music. We stuck the doorbell button next to the bathroom door. Now, when she has to go to the bathroom, she rings the doorbell.

The first few days she rang it numerous times. Every time, I diligently placed her on the toilet so that she could associate it with the potty. It seems to be working. We are not completely potty trained yet but are well on our way!

Oh my gosh! That is such a brilliant idea! My son is showing all the signs that he's ready to potty train as well, but he doesn't manage to get the words out until after the fact! Best of luck, keep us posted on how it goes!
