When I became a mom, I swore I would never be one of those overwhelmed looking women (even if I do feel that way sometimes) who go around running errands in tattered sweatpants, rumpled shirts and bed hair (and I’m not talking about the good type here). This is not my idea of glamorous.
My solution is just as comfortable, but not as frumpy. It is what I call leisure wear. This type of clothing makes the public think you are very athletic and just came back from the gym when in reality, you just rolled out of bed. Leisure wear is clothing that you can put on quickly, grab a nap in and still comfortably chase around your very active toddler. To me, it is nice athletic wear. I’m not talking about velour sweat suits or a sweat shirt and sweat pants. I’m talking about yoga clothes, nice running shorts, fitted t-shirts and trendy sweat suits. Old Navy and Target both carry very affordable options of all of the above. In my opinion, jewelry is not optional. Wearing earrings just adds to the effect.
As a mom of a toddler, I dont have a ton of time to devote to my appearance. As a result, I group my leisure outfits fully assembled together in my closet for quicker access. Not only do I feel comfortable, but if I run into someone I wont look like I’ve let myself go.
